Beschreibung:
Amerikanischer Artikel über die zunehmende Popularität des Segelfliegens. "In Germany this form of gliding is highly advanced. Pilots have learned that certain cloud formations cause an upward current of air and similarly certain terrain helps the craft remain aloft. They have consequently used this knowledge in operating craft until exceptional records of as high as fourteen hours have been set in endurance flights. [...] The most famous exponent of gliding was perhaps Otto Lilienthal, who with his Brother Gustav began experiments in 1867. By studying the flight of birds these two later built the first man-carrying glider."
