"Herr Lilienthal, the inventor of a navigable flying machine, to-day made an experimental journey, starting from Colomberg, in the province of Brandenburg. He had flown along safety for over 200 yards when a gust of wind suddenly caught and carried him upwards, causing him to lose control over his wings. The unfortunate man fall perpendicularly to the ground, broke his spine, and died soon afterwards."
